STORY
Chapter I: Leaving Earth
Earth, a planet with a lot of history, home to humanity and the birthplace of many events and happenings. Its purpose was to sustain life and the meaning of why we are here. Far from our knowledge, she kept deep dark secrets that will be part of the story of Rising Force, a story that will unfold before you and drag you into an adventure where you are the key.
After the "First Galactic Development Plan" was initiated, further research on Earth was deemed unnecessary. The human race was expanding across the Solar System and Galaxy, with opportunities waiting beyond the stars, not back home. History did not seem to carry more important information about the evolution of humanity.
Antarctica, once a key location for researchers and scientists, became a dim memory when the “Fourth Galactic Development Plan” was initiated. The frigid lands, guarding the interests of curious amateur research labs, were run by retired researchers and scientists.
Retired biologist Ivanovich Soburg was a member of the Arcane Club, where academics and amateur researchers delved into the mysterious histories and origins of civilizations, often overlooked by most academics. Traditional scholars considered the Arcane Club to be the 'Club of the Rich Guys', a social assembly for wealthy lords. The theories and ideas eminent from this elite group fell into disrepute, with few creditors for their eccentric interpretations. This group was akin to agnosticism, an error that would inevitably prove costly to the human race.
Ivanovich Soburg, a member of the Arcane Club, landed in Antarctica to research creatures living in this distant and inhospitable part of the Earth. The work he carried out did not get the attention it deserved, since it was believed that all living things in this area were or were in their homes, had already been discovered. Incidentally, the fact that he was a member of the Arcane Club conveyed an impression of cynicism among his nobility. This didn't last until he discovered Virus Dimens Syndrome, when his ideas and discoveries were treated with respect.
This Arcane Virus, discovered hundreds of meters below the ice cape of Antarctica's "western lands", excited Ivanovich immensely; his scientific findings and hard work were finally paying off. He brought the virus directly into his lab to begin testing. Despite having been locked away in ice for tens of hundreds of years ago, the virus was still in its active state, living in a state of hibernation, waiting to be activated and come back to life from its then-dormant state.
Ivanovich carefully thawed the ice in anticipation that he would prove to the world that there was still life in Antarctica, and that his name would be remembered forever. However, he did not know that his discovery could bring the end of all mankind. The now thawed virus has infected his mind. At first he thought the headaches were a direct result of the cold, but within a day, he and his colleagues were infected with the virus.
They all began to show abnormal states of aggression towards each other and an extreme desire to destroy and hurt others. These extremely problematic behaviors led to their eventual and painful deaths.
A transport ship, informed of this dire situation, was dispatched to collect the bodies of the researchers. His return journey could have proved to be a costly mistake. Using the drop ship as a conduit, the Arcane Virus quickly spread across the Earth, leaving no stone unturned, and no creature untouched. The contagion was unlike any virus discovered or created by man. Humans on Earth took on the likeness of the infected scientists, killing each other and finally firing nuclear weapons at the human colonies on Mars and Saturn. Defending themselves, the inhabitants of Mars and Saturn retaliated by hurling their own torrents of nuclear charges at Earth. The self-destruction of humanity and the demise of the Solar System had begun.
Supplemental outposts in the galaxy were shocked by what was happening in the Solar System, leading an organized group of investigators to be dispatched to the planets of the Solar System. What they found was death and disgrace; many affected by radioactivity, the Solar System was now a desolate wasteland.
Investigators soon became aware that it would be an impossible task to find anyone alive, the cause of the destruction of the Solar System will remain a mystery forever. However, the investigators were close to discovering the truth behind the devastation, for through their misinformation, the Arcane Virus, immune to radiation, had infected one of the investigation teams.
The Arcane Virus was still active despite the heat and radiation produced by the nuclear explosions. The then-viral design had deactivated, leaving it in the ironically familiar hibernation state Ivanovich had originally discovered it in.
After losing most of the investigation team, the remaining members came to understand the truth behind the destruction of Earth and Solar System, all too late for them.
Sector B-13 acting as the base for the development plan of the 4th galaxy became the administrative center after the fall of the Solar System. The B-13 sector government stipulated that the Arcane Virus was a very dangerous organism and must be contained. Over time, the disaster on Earth and the Solar System began to fade into distant memory. Humanity has moved on burying the memories of that terrible time.
Chapter II: The War of the Ancient Civilizations
Dohyun, president of the arcane club and a once highly respected anthropologist, conducted research into the origins of human civilization from the confines of his research facility in the Lablum Sector. As the key founder of the arcane club, his academic peers treated his work and discoveries with enormous agnosticism. His reputation was damaged and in tatters within the academic community.
The main discussions within the arcane club centered on the two great civilizations of the time, Mu and Atlantis on Earth. The focus of the investigation and research was based on the stories of Stonehenge in England and the mysterious Moai stone formations on Easter Island.
For centuries mankind has investigated the origins of its species, the civilizations it has created, and the mystical powers of ancient scriptures. Although many legends existed, their validity was never truly proven, yet cultures through time believed in them. The Moai Stones of Easter Island, believed to contain spiritual powers and linked with the supernatural, helped establish the ancient civilization of Mu. Could there be an element of truth in these beliefs?
Doctor Dohyun's research on the subject had to be put on hold as news about Earth's destruction filtered through to the colonies. This shocking news provoked Dohyun to investigate the arcane virus with great interest. Fortunately for Dohyun, the research materials regarding the virus reached him before the terrible events that occurred on the team's ship he was investigating on Earth.
With this research material he made an interesting discovery and theories what caused the destruction of ancient civilizations on earth. The theory was that the downfall of the two largest ancient civilizations was in fact caused by a war. Human leaders have thrown out their last warning about human survival. The extinction of humanity loomed.
Chapter III: Another Civilization, Another Race
The Herodians, residents of the planet Veja in the constellation Lyra, have a violent and destructive past. More interestingly, they play an important role in which the story of Rising Force will unfold. The Herodians, by nature, are a very aggressive race with a damn reputation for destroying other creatures and plundering their resources. Entire galaxies formed an alliance in order to survive the cruel sovereignty of the Herodians.
The constellation Taurus, as soon as it became known, had established power that could rival the potency of the Herodians and guard against the cruelty and natural aggressiveness of the Herodians.
The Herodians declared war on the alliance races, a war that lasted for tens of hundreds of years. The balance of power never shifted and sovereignty continued. With bloodshed and the cost of death ever mounting, something had to be done to ensure victory.
The Herodian civilization consumed resources at a rapid rate of growth, far faster than they were producing them. But the lack of resources presented a significant problem in the development and maintenance of civilization.
This resource problem was solved through an interesting method developed by the Herodians. By spreading Herodian mechanized creatures across the planets they controlled, resources could be harvested. It was inevitable that human-inhabited galaxies would attract the interests of the Herodians. Especially now that humans were growing in power and technology, yet the biggest surprise for the Herodians was that this was not their first encounter with humans. What was troubling the Herodians was how humanity had survived their earlier intervention; intervention that consisted of planting a Herodian bioweapon on Earth centuries ago. No other race had survived previous attacks with this weapon, until now.
The Herodians developed a new virus, which was now third generation, and more powerful than any previous caste. This new biological weapon was being used in the war against the Taurus constellation and the humans for the allied territories of the Taurus constellation died, obviously for the real cause of their joining.
The Herodian people had no doubt that the Human galaxy would soon be theirs for the taking. However, events did not unfold as they had anticipated. Most human civilizations went extinct, but a small number of human residents in various sectors survived and began to develop new weapons to resist the new strain of the virus.
Whose race was only obligated to worship their god, Marukesu-kun. But the only thing they could do was worship a large stone statue.
Chapter IV: The Advent of the Arcane Virus, the Fall of Mankind
Humanity has evolved as a race, its progress seen in the developments made across the galaxy. Expansion to the farthest corners of the galaxy has witnessed its success. The tragic events that followed the arrival of the deadly new virus, designed to systematically wipe out humanity. The galaxy's most renowned teachers and scientists have scrutinized the new breed, in prayer to find a cure and erase this deadly virus from existence. But time was against them; their only discovery showed that the symptoms were very similar to those of the Arcana Virus, the same virus that destroyed Earth's Solar system centuries ago. Infected people showed signs of aggressiveness and extreme excitement with a strong desire for destruction. It was inevitable that the killing would begin, as cases of infection grew out of control. People killed each other and then killed each other. Humanity as a whole was in a losing battle with itself.
This new strain of the virus differed from the Arcana Virus. The life expectancy of a human infected with the Virus was a mere 8 hours, unlike the Arcane Virus, which took seven days to kill its host. The scariest thing about this new virus was not the fatality rate, but the speed of infection between carriers and victims. The virus's resistance to temperature variations, sterile conditions and known antiviral drugs implied its ease of dissemination to the general population via means of transport, communication channels and even spacecraft. 90% of humans were infected and killed in the course of a day.
In order to survive this horrible destruction, the rest of humanity had no choice but to be scattered across the world. Planets were put into their own quarantine. All landing platforms and communications were destroyed to prevent any outside intervention. Luckily, a number of planets in the Lablum sector escaped infection. This was one of only a handful of sectors that escaped the damage the virus wrought on the galaxy. The Lablum sector represented a home for Doctor Dohyun and he deduced that the current virus was somehow related to the Arcana Virus. Working alone with the academics and members of the Arcane Club, they simulated the new caste of the "Mutant Strain of the Arcane Virus". With the latest information gleaned from the other colonies before the galaxy sweep,
Soon after research on EMVA began, scientists found something truly unexpected. Amidst the Lablum sector, EMVA seemed to be asleep. All vital activity had ceased.
Like real scientists, this lack of activity totally puzzled the team, so much so that they inadvertently activated the virus to determine that it was actually EMVA. The deaths of five scientists confirmed this. The puzzling result of these deaths was the peculiar actions of the virus. He again seemed to cease his activities and settle into a state of hibernation. Dohyun and his fellow researchers conjectured that the cause of this hibernation must be somehow related to the sector's environment. What exactly was still a mystery.
With communication with other sectors inaccessible, it was difficult to explain this great discovery. Members of the Arcane Club tried to communicate in any way possible what they had discovered, in the hope that someone was listening. The distance between sectors was vast, and platforms were used as communication and transportation tools. Regrettably all were destroyed and in view of that making the task very difficult.
As scientists continued with their research, the Lablum government discovered a rare and previously unlisted element. This newly discovered element had unique properties never seen before, its most outstanding feature being its incredible explosive power. This was like no other element and was called "Sacred Ore". This element, however, had a strange side. The mystery of where this great power came from troubled scientists, as it did not follow any of the known scientific laws.
The local government of the Lablum sector has been carefully developing this newly discovered element in extreme silence. However, with the arrival of the Mutant Strain of the Arcane Virus, the discovery and research of the Holy Ore was put on hold and forgotten. Members of the Arcane Club seized the opportunity and began to evaluate the attributes that this new element possessed. The theory was that this single element might indeed be the key they were looking for. This could be the element that would destroy EMVA and inevitably save what's left of humanity.
It was speculated that the strange wave emanating from the Holy Ore somehow had waves of similar effect to those coming from the Arcane Virus, which seemed to penetrate the human brain, stimulating its aggressive centers and thus causing violent behavior. The Holy Ore's "spiritual waves" had the effect of canceling the virus. Working closely with the government to study the relationships between the two waves, the theory was eventually proven to be reality.
The findings were that whenever the Arcane Virus was in the presence of the Holy Ore, it would not activate and would remain dormant. With this ground-breaking discovery, scientists began to study this further in hopes of creating a more accurate vaccine to eliminate the deadly virus. However, it briefly seemed impossible to create a vaccine using Holy Ore without deeper knowledge of how this element works effectively.
Consequently, Doctor Dohyun focused his research on developing the Holy Ore as opposed to creating the vaccine. His research, however, did not receive support from Sector management or Club members. As a result, he was excluded from the Vaccine research group. As the Lablum Sector and Arcane Club research teams developed ideas and theories for the vaccine, a devastating event was taking place in the outer reaches of the Lablum Sector. An unidentified craft appeared to be entering the area, much to the dread of the Lablum administration.
Electrical transmissions were continuously sent out to alert this unidentified craft to back off and stop on its current trajectory. The ship's only response was the sound of destruction and burning, and the complete annihilation of the outermost colonies in the G-17 sector. The Lablum sector itself was in complete shock by what was happening. The ship had completely destroyed the G-17 sector in an instant, using unimaginable strength and power that human weapons could not match. The 400 million people living in the G-17 sector were wiped out in a matter of 30 minutes.
Back in the Lablum sector, people were in a panic, mass hysteria was broadcast from all planets. The alien ship was heading straight for the heart of the planet Lablum, G-60, all the surrounding planets had succumbed to the same terrible force they had witnessed earlier. There was no mercy in these attacks. Planetary armies were deployed, but failed without even setting up a single attack on the incoming ship. All hope was lost. People tried to escape the planet, but without a central landing pad, their options were limited. Those who found a way to leave planet surfaces were soon caught and easily destroyed.
Doctor Dohyun suspected that there was some kind of relationship between the unidentified ship and the source that mutated the virus. Instinctively, he knew that the ship was being controlled by the same unknown civilization that had destroyed Earth's two great ancient civilizations centuries ago. The question continued, would it be possible to hold back these attacks with the newly discovered Sacred Mineral?
These deductions were pure speculation based on his understanding of cultures, and previous research. He presented his findings to members of the Arcane Club and the local government, but his ideas were dismissed as baseless fantasies. The tense conditions on the planet led to chaos and fear. The social structure completely broke down leading to riots, riots and even suicidal tendencies. Complete anarchy took over. With the end of humanity so close, only a miracle could save it.
Whether it was a miracle or something more sinister, the alien craft so close to victory did the most unexpected thing. On the eve of his triumph, he stopped. For what seemed like an eternity, the ship remained static, the attacks ceased, and all was peaceful for the moment. Without any warning or cause, the ship took a new course backward past the outermost colonies and disappeared from whence it came. Doctor Dohyun, although perplexed by the cause of this action, continued with his research. This time they survived. But why? Who were these attackers? What did they want? With so many questions, Dohyun immediately got down to business.
The secret of the Sacred Mineral was the key to Dohyun's research. Did he possess some kind of power that would allow telepathic abilities, an ability to communicate with other creatures through the power of thought? Could the great explosive power of the Sacred Mineral be adapted into an energy source for the new age? His thoughts and suspicions focused on the spiritual wave that he firmly believed caused the alien ship to leave. It was obvious that his work here might not entail as much hostility around him. With the armies themselves in turmoil, revolt against the government, the stability of the planet was crumbling.
Doctor Dohyun planned to leave the Lablum sector with the others, sharing the same ideals and beliefs. He needed a more stable location to continue his research on the Sacred Mineral with a firm belief that it was indeed the key to humanity's survival. Upon his departure from the Lablum sector, reports came that an alien ship had returned to Lablum and prepared its final and devastating attack on the area. The Lablum sector, once a peaceful and tranquil quadrant of space, has been left a barren, lifeless solar system.
Chapter V: Novus, the New Hope
Doctor Dohyun and his companions escaped the Lablum sector before annihilation, beginning their journey to nowhere. The search for any inhabited galaxy containing human life. Messages were transmitted through the ether, only to be met with the silence of empty planets and the cold of space. Their journey could seem, could be, long and arduous, and with that prospect, the team continued forward with their research into the Sacred Ore. Slowly over time, members of the research team and survivors of the disaster began to die of natural causes. Time had weighed heavily on the shoulders of the remaining Arcane Club members, but Dohyun's belief and hope of finding human traces kept him alive. With only three members of the team left now, it was ample excitement and relief when they discovered a planet,
The Earth Association originally designated the Novus sector as a study area for violent behavior, seen commonly teeming with the outermost members of Earth societies. The planet was a living, breathing laboratory used to discover why certain troops tended to a more violent way of life. Populations with unique abilities were also studied in order to learn and evolve people. Overall the intent of the project was to develop a new race of humans.
After the First Galactic Development Plan was completed, plans were put forward between the government and the Criminal Detention Association for an experimental project. Years of war and struggle against other races and superior civilizations farther away have taught mankind a valuable lesson about themselves. They were a fragile race and needed to evolve in strength and power to survive in this ever-expanding galaxy. With that thought, the blissful articulation between human government and the ADC was set forth, a plan that would make human physical strength and capabilities grow beyond imagination. Special designated areas in the Solar System have been selected to act as residences for these violent troops, the criminal fraternity, and cursed outcasts with special powers and abilities. With these groups placed in these areas it was possible to research this new evolution of humanity, observing their special traits as they grew in strength. The Novus Sector was one of those research areas in the outer reaches of the galaxy and one that would play a much more important role in time.
With Novus' platforms destroyed to isolate the planet from the outside world and the Arcane Virus, communications with Novus were impossible. In the face of this, Dohyun believed that the future of humanity loomed over this planet. The human race could go on living.
Chapter VI: Novus, Novus
"For thirty-three years my colleagues and I have traveled through deep, frigid space, searching for our Utopia, searching for traces of human life. Twenty-six of my companions and personal friends are gone, leaving me to live to tell our story. We risked and sacrificed our lives on this journey to discover other planets that would host human life, and in the Novus Sector our journey finally ended. With two of my companions, all of us reaching our own mental peaks, we were finally at ease of being able to talk about the Herodian plot to exterminate humanity throughout the universe.
However, this populated land, which we discovered teeming with human life, completely crushed our hopes. What we witnessed here disgusted us. The crimes and violence we saw was a grim reminder of events seen earlier in the evolution of our own species. Under the pretext of the 'Evolution of Humanity' we are annoyed by the new sins and shameful situations that unfortunately occurred under this new project. Was this the real plan for these people?
Upon arrival on Planet Novus, my two colleagues became victims of this 'New Generation' of humanity. Both died at the hands of these humans after years of surviving the Arcane Virus and Herodian attacks. These humans, through experimental and scientific 'improvisations', were victims of the Earth's artificial evolution procedure which amplified their violent tendencies.
Seeing these people transform into the monsters that we all have hidden deep inside, made me aware that all of us humans have an inner animal that is pure evil by nature, raising the question if we really deserve to be brought into existence in first place. Thirty-three years and the lives of my peers having been sacrificed for these undeserved people has left me a more bitter man. This may be my last entry as I contemplate whether or not I should disable life support systems. The desperation of the situation finally caught up with me and my will to live waned. In fact I don't know what I'm recording this for, as I'm sure the records will be lost to the ether forever.
Before I go, I have to assure myself that if anyone discovers these records, the work we've put forth has not been in vain. During our long journey, my colleagues and I discovered the secrets of the Mutant Strain Arcane Virus and Herodian involvement in the creation of this virus. We also research and reveal the secrets of the Holy Ore element, and its abilities to deter Herodians from their attacks.
Finally we discover that humans are animals by nature steeped in greed. However, this true nature may be your saving grace in your war against the Herodians, as it is inevitable that these two factions will clash, and it is my honest belief that they will be the only ones capable of destroying the Herodians. If a war between the Herodians and the remaining humans breaks out again with the residents of Novus, I truly hope the humans will survive, even though I think they are the subjects of an experiment with untold evil.
Why? Perhaps because they are of the lesser evils, perhaps because I, myself, am human."
Chapter VII: The New Generation of Humanity
The Earth Association was the governmental representative body of all humanity throughout the Solar System. From the early days of the unification of the Earth Association and its planetary offices, the development of the Solar System and the implementation of the Fourth Galactic Development Program was complete and has set the benchmark as one of humanity's greatest achievements. During the stages of the Fourth Galactic Development Program, the happy coming together of the Criminal Detention Association and the Earth Association to create an all-powerful new generation of humans faced a dilemma. This fortunate joint to evolve humans into more aggressive species, and more importantly, a new generation of soldiers, was placed under the oversight of the Ground Military Contingent. The problem in facing the Military Contingent was, in order to proceed with their plans for Galactic conquest, they would have to find alternative ways to accomplish it independent of their pre-existing human bodies. As long as this remained, they felt they were too weak to withstand a modern day war. The CMT did not want to share resources or their civilization with any other species or civilization. Their beliefs were that only people could conquer the Galaxy, believing that humans would be the dominant race. Thus, in order to achieve this goal, their frail bodies would have to be strengthened beyond their current outline. they felt they were too weak to withstand a modern day war. Their beliefs were that only people could conquer the Galaxy, believing that humans would be the dominant race. Thus, in order to achieve this goal, their frail bodies would have to be strengthened beyond their current outline.
The war with the Arr civilization of the Koop Sector during the First Galactic Development Plan plus the violent war between the Busou Sector and its Calamanju civilization during the Third Development Plan left a great mark on the galaxy, endangering humanity. Not only were there civil strife between the Earth colonies, there were also retaliations from other civilizations and creatures posing a definite threat to humanity. These terrifying times led the CMT to carry out their Confidential experiments resulting in the "Next Generation" project of humanity.
The CMT designated numerous sectors as special development areas and these were scattered around the fringes of the galaxy. The experiment involved splicing genetics, steroids and medical infusions to create stronger bodies, adding active premature evolution to adapt to special environments. The CMT focused its experiments on maximizing human abilities, both mental and physical. These experiments were not without their casualties, with subjects dying or mutating into terrifying monsters incapable of self-control.
The experiments continued in secrecy and kept out of public view. For the CMT, the subjects of the experiments were simple laboratory rats helping in the development of humanity. Even with the loss of all human knowledge and coherent thinking, these guys could still be useful to the Military. The Novus Sector was home to this gigantic laboratory.
Planet Leguin in the Novus Sector was home to the Improvement Experiment. This set of experiments opened up mental abilities, but the subjects were exposed to great mental stress, losing their minds and turning into violent and aggressive beasts. Similar to experiments on Planet Nilben under the guise of the Evolution Project, focused on human adaptability to high gravitational pressures. Again it had failed and resulted in subjects losing their minds but gaining great strength in the process.
With the purpose of creating a generation of superhumans to reign supreme across the galaxy, these planets remained the hosts of mutation experiments. However, the vision of supremacy disappeared with the introduction of the Mutated Arcane Virus and the Herodian Offensive. The CMT faced the fact that they might be witnessing the extinction of the human race, unable to use their human experimental armies after so long.
Chapter VIII: The Three Factions
Accretia (Robot): The planet Accretian was an inhospitable place, boasting the largest ocean in the sector, combined with continents that were composed of 65% desert. The soil was dry and infertile and these hostile conditions made the environment impossible to live in. What it lacked above ground, it thrived below the surface with the subterranean resources abundant, fresh water gushing from subterranean rivers giving the creatures their sustenance. With so much diversity of life under the surface, civilization on the planet Accretian thrived and evolved. With so much variety of acquisitions on this planet, the CMT research group used it as Headquarters for their research and development laboratories.
Accretian researchers had a hard science base, using methodical and precise measurements in their experiments. They led numerous human mutation experiments on a number of planets in the Novus sector. For the research team, their human subjects were simply lab rats.
Based on orders from Earth, the purpose of these experiments was to develop a scientifically and technologically superior civilization. There were no limits to what they could do and they did in "the name of progress". Their efforts resulted in a new generation of mechanized human bodies and created, in their minds, a more powerful superhuman.
Bellato (Dwarf): Planet Nilben hosted the gravitational experiments conducted by the Accretian Research Team. These experiments used the planet's great gravitational pull to artificially strengthen test subjects, making them physically stronger. Findings which proved to be a failure and it was left to the team to investigate "other" avenues of scientific interest. One area of curiosity involved induced mental growth for the already empowered test subjects from previous experiments. The results of the experiments showed that the power of the mind was essential in sustaining the highest limits of the body and enduring physical evolution.
Using these research results, Accretian researchers took over and began further experiments on the planet Bellato, using its inhabitants as laboratory rats. The experiments proved to be highly successful with fewer side effects, including most notably a complete regression in body size. The aim was to create a strong physical body with heightened mental attributes and this is what the scientists had achieved. All that remained was to train this new species to live in this environment, and learn the basics of survival, the most basic of human instincts.
Cora (Elf): The planet Cora in the Novus sector was the location of a different set of experiments. Here, research focused on the only guinea pigs that had an unusual ability. The inhabitants of this planet had a strong tendency towards ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) and other mental abilities. The possibility of expanding these powers has led researchers to work hard towards the goal of channeling these powers towards greater good.
The research team categorized the subjects according to their specific abilities. Attributes included the ability to regenerate health. Another outstanding attribute was the ability to kill through thought, or inflict serious damage on other test subjects. Part of the experiments involved survival training by corralling the "lab rats" in the wild and in hostile environments to use their newfound mental abilities. Adapting their different elemental abilities, the test subjects began to train these powers for different situations. By biomechanical supplements and genetic reassignment, the mental abilities of the Coritas guinea pigs improved. The only survivors of these brutal and extreme experiments lived on the planet Cora.
Chapter IX: The Beginning of a New Civilization
It was inevitable that the Mutated Virus would find its way into the Novus sector. Its devastating effects put Accretian scientists into unbridled panic. In an ordeal to protect themselves from this terrible disaster, scientists destroyed transport platforms, interrupted planetary transport connections and ceased all communication. In essence this meant that all interplanetary transports were canceled and the system's control of the other planets was lost.
The experimental subjects, inhabiting various planets controlled by Accretian researchers, found themselves in the midst of embodied chaos. Basic animal instincts were activated with the viral plague crisis. His training and biomechanical skills were unleashed on his delegated researchers, destroying the bases in their wakes.
The virus has infected the sixteen planets in the Novus sector. All but the planets Bellato and Corita were destroyed, remaining those who formed their own primitive societies. The Bellatos and Coritas for unknown reasons did not lose their minds as seen by the entire sector. Although there were lots of confusions, the surviving planets remained uninfected. Both planets braced for the worst as supplies ran out and the inhabitants were left to fend for themselves. Both civilizations worked hard to maintain their survival and produce resources to sustain their societies, using equipment left behind by previous researchers and civilizations.
The inhabitants of each of the remaining planets created unique new civilizations. The Koritas built a society based on their unique mental abilities, the Bellatos strove to combine their mental and scientific abilities, and the Accretian researchers, left isolated on the planet, had to find a way to maintain their own survival.
On Planet Acrecia, the fear and uncertainty caused by the Arcane Virus Mutant Strain's attack left its scar. With the planet's travel connections and platforms destroyed, the researchers' lives were in constant threat. With a clear lack of support from the Earth Association, and the impossibility of long-distance travel through space, researchers had to struggle for their survival, unsure whether the virus had spread to other areas in the sector.
The hostile planet they were cornered on proved to be dangerous for researchers. It was clear that they had to adapt or die. Using their skills and knowledge, it was a simple task to manipulate their bodies and acclimatize them to their new surroundings. They began rebuilding their human bodies by incorporating mechanical implants and nanotechnology; all produced using the vast supply of underground minerals and resources.
The Corites, Bellatos and Accretians, once a united human race, were now evolving in their new habitats and more importantly their own physical existence. The beginnings of three new civilizations were underway, their destinies yet to be written.
Chapter X: Sacred Mineral and the Herodians
Herodian interests in the human race reached their height after their encounter with and resistance to the biological attack weapon. With the Taurus constellation falling staggering to this very weapon, it was evident that there was a need for restlessness. Curiosity had to remain out of the plans even though Herodian teachings strictly dictated that enemies must be utterly annihilated. Following this scheme, the surviving members of the human race in the far reaches of the galaxy were destroyed. The Herodian culture did not want a repeat of history, as they knew that enemies that had not been completely exterminated could evolve and become a great danger in the future.
It was only during its journey to wipe out humanity that the true nature of the Sacred Mineral told its story. This element was previously unknown to the Herodian race as their knowledge of it was limited. The effects were not physical but mental degradation. It was sometimes possible to describe it as having a more radioactive factor. Their proximity to the Sacred Mineral was a key factor in the overloading effect on Herodian physiology. The spirit waves emanating from the element had a devastating effect on the Herodians' minds, destroying key areas of brain activity.
After the Herodians' initial failed attacks, a research plan was formulated to seek out the cause and find a countermeasure to repel the effects of this new element. There was a simple problem in that not one member of the Herodian research team could get close enough to the Sacred Mineral to conduct any specific tests, even with the latest security equipment. It was impossible to conduct the survey.
The properties of the Sacred Mineral proved to be an essential driving force behind the Herodian decision to create a new weapon based on the Sacred Mineral, a weapon that could have a super-powerful effect if used in the Taurus Constellation. The fact of concern was that this was just fantasy, as they couldn't get close to the element without major side effects.
The next step for the Herodian researchers was to formulate a possible solution on how they could approach the Sacred Mineral. Again they failed to prevent the spirit waves from being emanated from the element. But in their research they discovered the explosive power contained in the Sacred Mineral. If there was more than a desire to find out more about this amazing material, that time is now.
The research coincided with the discovery of a distant sector of space, forgotten by humans and apparently archaic in nature, which they had discovered during their previous encounter with humans. This sector known as the Novus sector was home to what could be described as the descendants of the human race. The residents of this sector were obviously evolving in ways never seen before and gave the Herodians a unique opportunity to observe the evolution of the species. From the extremes of space the Herodian observation team hovered dormant, watching, analyzing and taking note of the changing species, fully intent on seeing the species solving the secrets and mysteries of the Sacred Mineral. The sector consisted of two solar systems with a certain number of planets in each solar system. Only three planets were inhabited by humans, Cora, Accrecia and Bellato, and each of these planets was observed in great detail to ensure a better understanding of the differences in culture and behavior of each of the civilizations. The Herodians had a plan and, as they had in the past, they watched from the shadows waiting for the right time to act.
